Romania has some natural mud volcanoes in a tiny village outside of Buzau.

We’re planning on going to see the Vulcanii noroioşi on the next trip…is it worth the drive…it looks like such an alien landscape…good pic by the way! How long did you have to wait that one out?

Incredible pic and yes, in my opinion you should visit the place. It is not very impressive as it is a small place but the vulcans are something you rarely see (at least for me) and the landscape is awsome.
Thanks for the blog, I find it really interesting!!

if you are still in that area, try Colti (?) village, it’s a chihlimbar mine (amber), and a museum

Ron & Maria - I’d say it’s a judgement call. I wouldn’t recommend the trip to a first time visitor because they’re are other priorities of things to see (unless you’re super into geology, that is). However, you’re a seasoned Romerican, so it’ll be worth the trip out there if you’ve got other things to do in the region. Frankly, the place is pretty small and you couldn’t possibly spend more than 1 hour even if you passed out on tequila.
I took a whole lotta duds before getting that one and another semi-interesting one.
shadowchase - Thanks!
Mai - Welcome to the show! I agree it’s worth a visit, particularly for someone like Ron whose seen a few other places in Romania already. Certainly, it’s well worth a visit for any red-blooded Romanian! A curious little geological wonder recommended to me by Csiki Andy. (Thanks, Andy!)
mutz - Ugh! Had I but known… I would have definitely checked it out. As for now, I’ve saved the link and will keep it in reserve for one of the many times I come back again and again.
RS - Thanks!
Laura - Thanks! It is a little extra terrestrial….

We are currently looking for a Daily Living consultant for one of our Intercultural Trainings in Romania. The training will take place in Targu Secuiesc in October 5th. We already have a cultural trainer for the whole programme, but we require finding a person who will be willing to come by and give a little introduction about the country. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a native, we require a person who lives in/around the area Tg Seuiesc and would like to participate.
We can pay the equivalent to £ 30.00 plus travel expenses for your participation (Which usually takes 1 – 1 ½ hrs) Would you be interested in taking this assignment, or do you know somebody who would? Please let me know.
Send me an email to gwyss@iorworld.com
thanks!
