What the heck? I used to live next to Tineretului for a year…and I have no recollection of substantial water or boats. *headscratch*

You sure you weren’t on Herastrau somewhere? :D

Do not get old. This is what happens when you get old…

Actually, I just dropped by Tineretului and the old neighborhood this past Easter. The park has never looked better. I remember the ill-kept thing that was still one of the better parks 12 years ago. But the Monday after this past Easter, it was full of families in early April, everything a-flower. Absolutely gorgeous.

However, I can’t choose favorites between it and Cismigiu this time of year. :-)

Denisa – Thanks. I must have overlooked that when doing an upgrade the other month. They’re back in place now and should be hunky-dorey.

Lola – Well, you can rest assured that if Spaniolul turns out to be a bad experience, I will spare no effort to rake you over the coals endlessly. :] Let’s hope he lives up to your recommendations. I think I might hit Cismigiu tomorrow.

Well, while the park is nice don’t expect much from Oraselul Copiilor – it’s a Luna Park more tired than you can immagine. However, Spaniolul it’s worth the trek, and this is the best I can do as far as directions: entering from the Brancoveanu subway stop, pass the mini-train station and walk straight pass the terrace on the right, at the mini-carts on the left keep left and in 10-15 yards you’ll hit the terrace. Walking from the park it’s a bit more difficult to explain, probably the easiest way would be to walk the main alley to the train station and then follow previous directions.
Sorry to be a bore, but it took me a couple of visits to find him and I know that park like the back of my hand. (God I hope he’s still there and still good or you’ll be one pissed Romerican! :) )

Tineretului is a fairly young park, I lived in the ‘hood and I remember when it was built. And it’s nice, but doesn’t hold a candle to Cismigiu and Herastrau and Carol.

And although this might cause a wrath (sorry, it’s just my opinion) I would skip the IOR, Drumul Taberei, Pantelimon, Titan. They’re nice because they’re parks in a forest of ugly old apartment buildings, but there’s absolutely nothing special about them.

Stingo – Thanks for the tip. I did notice the place seemed to be quite busy, but didn’t catch sight of any food. I’ll add lakeside pizza to the list.

Andrei – Duly noted. Probably hit Drumul Taberei, Carol, and Cismigiu next (based on my rough plan). Thanks for the map link!

Don’t forget to visit the many others like: Herastrau, Cismigiu, Mogosoaia, Carol, Drumul Taberei, IOR, Pantelimon, Libertatii, Tei, Gradina Botanica, Kiseleff, Parcul Circului, National (23 August), Titan etc.

I used to live around Tineretului. I recommend the pizza in the Actorilor Cafe, which I think is the wooden terrace by the lake in your photos.
