hi, i am a romanian living in the new hampshire. i am writting my comment here because i didn’t find any email address or any other more relevant topic. i also tried to create a user for your website but i didn’t receive any email back with the password…so please don’t yell at me for writting here. so, i am married to an american guy, and we both go to romania(alba iulia-sebes) and ron(my husband) really loves it there. we consider moving there for good in a couple of years, but i was curious…what do you do for a living there? do you regret moving there? i’m trying to figure out how hard it would be for him to adjust to living there, especially that he doesn’t master romanian yet. we traveled all over the place the last couple of times we were there and he was really impressed(brasov, cluj, alba, poienari fortress, bran, hunedoara castle). it would be nice to hear from you one of these days if you have the time. btw, last time we were there we brought a taco kit and made tacos for my family and they totally loves them. numai bine!pa!

Maria - Welcome to the show. I wonder how you find New Hampshire. I hear thats where all the political crackpots are moving. ;]

I’m not sure what the deal is with registration, so I’ll have to look into that… and make sure something worthwhile happens in the future. Pardon my momentary ignorance.

I think the centru of Sebes is gorgeous. Alba Iulia has a great history and was far nicer than I had imagined.

My reason for being in Romania is still something of a mystery, so you’ll have to pardon me while I duck you on that question. I can say, for example, that I am not working in management for a large corporation, in case your husand is a white collar Fortune 500 type.

I think a better approach might be to let me know what field he is in (we’ll go email for your privacy) and I can offer you what little I know about that area of work. I believe there’s always something.

In fact, if you considered a big change, I would encourage you to consider the option of having your husband analyze his current career and think about what he would like to be doing. When moving to another side of the globe, I think persons should take the opportunity to make a big change they’ve always wanted to do. Pursue your dreams and all that.

I do not regret moving here. Not one single bit. And I’m not a starry-eyed misfit either. Or, at least, not that I know of. I’ve had a colorful (and modestly successful) history in politics, marketing and IT. Figure out that puzzle! And yet I don’t find myself unable to make a buck or two here in far-flung Romania.

Hunedoara castle is, hands down, my favorite sight in all of Romania. Apparently the economy in that city leaves something to be desired. While I am not a fan of Bucuresti, the fact remains that much of the economic opportunity is there. Other places with decent changes (by American success standards) include places like Brasov, Sibiu, and Cluj. Those should be on any list for consideration.
