Lukashenko agitates protesters?
It seems that Lukashenko may be trying to rile the peaceful protesters by sending in agitators to harass them in hopes of sparking a physical conflict. Any serious scuffle would, of course, lead to an immediate order for violence against the demonstrators… in the name of national security.
If the reports are accurate, it would be highly unusual for there to be a somewhat constant flow of drunken people repeatedly attempting to instigate trouble by trying to enter the tent city and agitate the activists. I can understand if one or two mentally disturbed and downtrodden communist workers had drank one too many beers and then decided to come explain to campers the virtues of dictatorship. Otherwise, a steady stream of actors pretending to be angry in order to provoke a disturbance seems like the perfect excuse for Lukashenko to justify a crackdown in the name of national security (or other equally malicious lie).
The squatters in the square have been smart to avoid confrontation thusfar. Now, they just need to remain active until Saturday and it’s up to Milinkevich to try and rally the pepole on that day. Can they muster enough people who want fair elections? Or will Lukashenko retain dictatorship by fraud?
