Saint Patrick’s Day in Romania
Aye, tis a wanderfil dae tah-dae an’ all tha Eire will be awt in tha pubs ta poor down a bit of the black stuff. Even ‘ere in Romania, of carse. Now, ya don’ need ta be missin’ awt on tha fun, boy-o. Grab yar friend an’ head down to yar lowkal Irish pub is all ya need.
But, hey, why not start with a little Irish music on the internet.
There are several Irish pubs in Romania. Right here in Braşov, we have Deane’s Irish Pub and they’re sure to have plenty of Guinness on hand to keep you and your mates in good spirits. Of course, when you’re this far from the Emerald Isle, you can always reach out to visit your cousins at the local Scot’s pub. Fortunately, there’s one of those here in Braşov as well.
Who knew we could be so lucky?
In the United States, Saint Patrick’s Day is arguably the biggest holiday of the year. Perhaps 4th of July (Independence Day) is a little bigger, but I’ll tell you it’s pretty much a battle. In Seattle, my friends will party at Molly McGuire’s. In Houston, my friends will party at Brian O’Neill’s.
For those Romanians who have never celebrated Saint Patrick’s Day, I can assure you that it is the most fun holiday of the year. There’s no need to be Irish. Unlike some cultures that tend to exclude straine, the Irish are very happy to embrace our friends and neighbors from all around the world. In fact, it’s well known that on Saint Patrick’s Day we consider everyone to be Irish… even if it’s only temporary. So, search for an Irish pub in your town and join the fun tonight!
Since shamrocks are a bit hard to find around here, you’ll want to wear a spot of green on yourself. It’s almost a requirement. Find some and put it on before you go out… and you’ll fit in just fine.
Aye, one last twinkle in me eye. Tis said that I’ll only be felled by the bottle, but I wanted ta let ya in on a little seecret. Da ya kno waht an Irishman does when he’s had a wee bit much ta drink, there? Of carse, he hangs on ta the blades o’ grass ta keep frum fallen off tha edge o’ tha warld!
Sláinte şi ERIN GO BRAGH!
